Vices EVIL AND THE WICKED

Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
Evil is impudence.
Ghurar Al-Hikam Wa Durar Al-Kalim
Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
Counter evil with good.
Ghurar Al-Hikam Wa Durar Al-Kalim
Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
Evil is pestilent speech.
Ghurar Al-Hikam Wa Durar Al-Kalim
Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
Evil makes its rider fall.
Ghurar Al-Hikam Wa Durar Al-Kalim
Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
Evil is [a cause of] regret.
Ghurar Al-Hikam Wa Durar Al-Kalim
Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
Evil is the ugliest of gates.
Ghurar Al-Hikam Wa Durar Al-Kalim
Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
Evil degrades and strikes down.

Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
Evil is the carrier of misdeeds.

Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
Evil is the symbol of destruction.

Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
The foundation of evil is avarice.

Verily in evil there is impudence.

Doing evil is a [means of] revilement.

Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
The attractiveness of evil is avarice.

Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
Delaying of evil is a benefit for good.
Ghurar Al-Hikam Wa Durar Al-Kalim
Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
One who repels evil with good, triumphs.
Ghurar Al-Hikam Wa Durar Al-Kalim
Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
Delaying of evil is advantageous to good.
Ghurar Al-Hikam Wa Durar Al-Kalim
Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
The most severely punished thing is evil.

Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
One who hates evil is safeguarded [from it].

Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
The doer of evil is worse than the evil [itself].

Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
Never count as good that by which you attain evil.

Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
When you see evil then distance yourselves from it.

He who embarks on evil is successful in attaining it.

Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
None shall be punished for an evil act except its doer.

Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
There is nothing worse than evil except its retribution.

Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
Evil is punishable and brings dishonour (or is requited).

Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
It is the habit of the wicked to trouble [their] friends.

Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
One of the greatest deceptions is making evil appear good.

Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
One who is cautious of evil is like the one who does good.

Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
Increased wickedness is [a sign of] vileness and abjectness.

Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
Whoever abandons evil, the doors of good are opened for him.

Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
The ‘evil’ that is followed by Paradise is not [really] evil.

Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
The most evil of all people is one who boasts about his evil.

Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
Keep away from the wicked and sit in the company the virtuous.

Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
Considering evil to be loathsome impels one to refrain from it.
Ghurar Al-Hikam Wa Durar Al-Kalim
Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
One who does evil has [actually] transgressed against his soul.
Ghurar Al-Hikam Wa Durar Al-Kalim
Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
The habit of the wicked is harbouring enmity for the righteous.
Ghurar Al-Hikam Wa Durar Al-Kalim
Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
The one who gains victory by evil is [in actual fact] defeated.
Ghurar Al-Hikam Wa Durar Al-Kalim
Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
He who does not wear the gown of good has not disrobed from evil.
Ghurar Al-Hikam Wa Durar Al-Kalim
Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
One who provokes a latent evil, in it will be his own destruction.

Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
Every victor who gains victory by evil is [in actual fact] defeated.

The consolidation of evil is in association with a wicked companion.

Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
Evil is the ugliest of gates and its doer is the worst of companions.

Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
Obedience to the calls of the wicked corrupts the outcome of matters.

Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
The coming to power of the wicked is the tribulation of the virtuous.

Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
One whose evil is too much, [even] his companion is not safe from him.
Ghurar Al-Hikam Wa Durar Al-Kalim
Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
The consolidators of evil are obstinacy and increased quarrelsomeness.
Ghurar Al-Hikam Wa Durar Al-Kalim
Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
Many an evil may suddenly come upon you from whence you least expect it.
Ghurar Al-Hikam Wa Durar Al-Kalim
Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
One who plunges into the depths of evil meets with danger [and adversity].
Ghurar Al-Hikam Wa Durar Al-Kalim
Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
The evil of a man is evinced by his increased greed and his intense avarice.
Ghurar Al-Hikam Wa Durar Al-Kalim
Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
Keep away from evil, for verily more evil than the evil [itself] is its doer.
Ghurar Al-Hikam Wa Durar Al-Kalim
Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
It behoves the one who recognizes the wicked to disassociate himself from them.
Ghurar Al-Hikam Wa Durar Al-Kalim
Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
Evil is the riding mount of greed and vain desire is the riding mount of discord.
Ghurar Al-Hikam Wa Durar Al-Kalim
Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
Be careful not to be deceived by the good act that the wicked one does by mistake.
Ghurar Al-Hikam Wa Durar Al-Kalim
Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
One who does not know the harmfulness of evil is not capable of desisting from it.
Ghurar Al-Hikam Wa Durar Al-Kalim
Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
Scythe the evil from the breasts of others be uprooting it from your [own] breast.
Ghurar Al-Hikam Wa Durar Al-Kalim
Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
Be careful not to be repelled by the evil act that the righteous one does by mistake.
Ghurar Al-Hikam Wa Durar Al-Kalim
Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
One who harbours evil feelings [and ill will] for others has actually harmed himself.
Ghurar Al-Hikam Wa Durar Al-Kalim
Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
One who lays the foundation of evil cause has [actually] instituted it against himself.
Ghurar Al-Hikam Wa Durar Al-Kalim
Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
Whoever strips his heart of evil, his religion is secured and his conviction is confirmed.
Ghurar Al-Hikam Wa Durar Al-Kalim
Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
There is nothing more corrupting for affairs or more destructive to the community than evil.
Ghurar Al-Hikam Wa Durar Al-Kalim
Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
Efface evil from your heart, [and as a result] your soul will be purified and your actions will be accepted.
Ghurar Al-Hikam Wa Durar Al-Kalim
Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
The consolidation of evil is in being deceived by respite [from chastisement] and reliance on [one’s own] action.
Ghurar Al-Hikam Wa Durar Al-Kalim
Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
The wicked person does not think good of anyone because he does not see them except through [the lenses of] his own nature.
Ghurar Al-Hikam Wa Durar Al-Kalim
Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
The most evil of all is one who is not ashamed of [his actions in front of] the people and does not fear Allah, the Glorified.

Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
Evil is concealed in everyone’s nature, so if its possessor overcomes it, it remains hidden and if he doesn’t overcome it, it is manifested.
Ghurar Al-Hikam Wa Durar Al-Kalim
Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
The greatest evil is in disparaging the painful advice of the compassionate, sincere adviser and being deceived by the sweetness of the flattery of the malicious praiser.
Ghurar Al-Hikam Wa Durar Al-Kalim
Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
Beware of surrounding yourself with evil, for you will be affected by it yourself before [harming] your enemy and you will destroy your religion by it before conveying it to others.
Ghurar Al-Hikam Wa Durar Al-Kalim
Imam Ali (P.B.U.H):
Be wary of the wicked one during the coming of power [and authority], that he does not cause it to be taken away from you and during its departure [from you], that he does not gather support against you.

How bad a provision evil action is!
